This two-year program is more than just the next step after being a camper. The Leader In Training program is designed to build up the next generation of leaders, both at camp and in the “real world”. Using a bible-based curriculum, LITs learn what it means to serve others, to love God, and to lead with grace and humility, just as Christ did.

While the LIT program was originally built to train up new cabin leaders, it is so much more than that. We recognize that KLC has a network of young people with a wide range of skills, passions, and abilities. Our goal is to see our young leaders learn to lead well, no matter where life takes them.

Each year of the LIT program comprises three weeks of serving, learning, and teaching. LITs will have scheduled sessions where they will learn about a range of topics, from studying the bible to leading camp skills. They will serve by helping to run skills and games, and by helping with chores and other projects around camp. All of this helps them learn the rhythms of camp while also building skills that will help them advance in other areas of life.

Note: This program is designed to increase the employability of the participants, as well as prepare them to be leaders who can recognize the worth and potential that God has created in the campers we serve. As such, LIT is not a program interested teens register for, but rather one they apply into. Upon review of a successful application, the applicants will receive an acceptance letter from our LIT Director.

LIT YEAR One

This summer program allows you to extend your stay at camp while allowing you to gain some employable skills. Through this 3 week program, you will dig into the scriptures, grow a stronger relationship with Christ, and get to do it alongside others.

Testimonial

"My first year of LIT impacted me greatly and is still affecting me today. It taught me what non-familial love feels like and how much happiness you can receive from a group of people and a place. It gave me a new perspective on what my relationship with Christ can look like and gave me numerous role models. It also taught me immense gratitude for KLC staff and friends, because I would not be where I am today without them." - Mara, Class of 2021

LIT YEAR two

Putting it to practice! Year two of LIT gives you the opportunity to reunite and pick up where you left off the summer before. LIT 2 challenges you to put your leadership skills to the test, allowing time to work alongisde other staff and investing into campers expereinces.

Testimonial

"One thing that God taught me is to be patient with others around me, no matter who it is. I don't know what could be going on in their life and I don't want to make things worse. He taught me to be kind to everyone because that one action, can make someone's day. We all have feelings and our actions can affect others' feelings in a good or bad way." - Simon, Class of 2019
